Washington, DC – Members of the ACR’s Head Injury Institute (HII) attended the annual Brain Injury Awareness Day in the Cannon House Office Building on Wednesday, March 16th. The Congressional Brain Injury Task Force (CBITF), co-chaired by Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-N.J.) and Rep. Tom Rooney (R-Fla.), sponsors the event.
This was HII’s third consecutive year exhibiting at Brain Injury Awareness Day. HII staff discussed HII’s projects, goals and other endeavors with several members of Congress, booth visitors and fellow exhibitors.
“The Brain Injury Awareness day co-hosted by Reps. Pascrell and Rooney, was a great opportunity for TBI research, clinical care, and patient advocacy communities to connect with the public and share information on how the field continues to evolve towards improving the care of individuals with TBI. The degree of coordination that is presently occurring across academic institutions, private organizations, and federal laboratories/agencies to address the many facets of this condition is impressive and speaks to the degree of commitment that exists at all levels for improving management of this disease,” observed James Stone, MD.
